"Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
Proverbs 22:6
In Catholic education, parents play a profound and beautiful role in the formation of their children. They are seen as the primary educators of their children, entrusted by God to nurture their spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical growth. The partnership between parents and St. Maria Goretti School is characterized by mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the well-being and success of the child. Together, they create a nurturing and supportive environment where students can thrive academically, spiritually, and personally, guided by the principles of faith, love, and service.
VIRTUS "Protecting God's Children" is a program designed to ensure the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable individuals within Catholic institutions. Volunteers, particularly those who work directly with children or youth, are required to complete this program as part of the Church's commitment to preventing abuse and creating safe environments.
The program typically includes a training session that cover topics such as recognizing signs of abuse, maintaining appropriate boundaries, responding to disclosures of abuse, and understanding the importance of reporting suspicions of abuse to the proper authorities.
Virtus training is offered regularly throughout the year at many parishes within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. To obtain a calendar of dates and times, CLICK HERE
